Established in 2020, Maximus Music and Media, or M3, is a Glasgow-based online studio owned and run by multi-instrumentalist, engineer, songwriter, and producer Arron Taylor that specialises in online recording and production, music performance and composition, and audio visual services. Showcasing his skills developed across his higher education life, Arron set up M3 in order to provide services across the world via the Internet to help new talent and old flourish with efficient, high-quality audio services for anyone’s needs.
Over the last few years, Arron has worked independently with artists such as Blood Orange, Allan Purvis, The Sirens, Daniel Beattie, Phobetor, and Shanna, helping to enhance their sound and assist them in their musical and sonic desires. Now, with M3, Arron seeks to provide the same services to a wider, more diverse audience online, so that no matter where an artist or worker may be, M3 can enhance their work and put spirit into their sound.
Background
As a small child aged 4, Arron had been enthralled with music and sound from playing retro games on the PlayStation such as WipEout 2097, Spyro The Dragon, and Tomb Raider III to listening to bands such as R.E.M., E.L.O., The Future Sound Of London, Bob Marley and The Wailers, and Gorillaz. However, his musical aptitude was somewhat limited, as he had no proper training nor did anyone in his family perform or write music; however they did massively bolster his ambitions of pursuing music, such as purchasing a Casio keyboard and Tiger drumkit for him to learn and practice melody and rhythm, ultimately leading to him exploring music-making at Secondary School.
Arron’s first venture into music began by learning to play piano, drums, bass, and electric/acoustic guitar at 15, with new-found knowledge in performance giving him the chance to perform in his school’s bands such as the percussion and guitar ensembles as well as the chamber choir. During this time he had some focus of what his career was to be centred on, however he was unsure of where to go after leaving school. He had planned on writing music however many opportunities fell through due to the stress of school-life at the time. He eventually did some researching on college and university courses and discovered an NC course in Sound Production at Ayrshire College that would help him understand the backbone of the music industry and the people that work in it. With a passion for more knowledge and the vibrant possibility of discovering more about the music industry than he had ever learned before, Arron applied to the NC Sound Production course and was accepted.
Entering college in 2016, he explored sound engineering and the world of audio and the music industry behind the scenes, being given ample opportunity to work with up-and-coming artists across Ayrshire. There he met a variety of colleagues and artists including some of whom he had showcased his performance and engineering skills for, such as singer-songwriter Shanna Hodge, hardcore band Blood Orange, and a capella swing group The Sirens. His time in college allowed him to have a more fleshed out attempt at song-writing and composition under his act name Atari while still keeping sound engineering his primary focus during this time, enhancing his skills in recording, mixing, mastering, and sound design that would help spur his ideas for a freelancing business providing audio services to fellow artists and workers. Experimenting briefly with live sound before focusing purely on record production, Arron eventually received his HND in Sound Production in 2019 before progressing into BSc Hons Music Technology at the University West of Scotland.
From there he decided to focus his career on helping artists across the world with their musical and production needs by beginning to lay down the foundations of Maximus Music and Media, an online studio housing a variety of services for musicians, industry workers, producers, and anyone keen on making their musical ideas a reality. This would culminate in the creation of this website in early 2020, beginning the journey of M3 and its goal to work alongside artists and workers looking to receive the most efficient, high-quality services under one umbrella; an online studio called M3.
Arron is currently on-track to achieving his BSc Hons degree and is looking to continue forward into a Masters degree later down the line, but his vision and goal of working alongside fresh and established talent across Glasgow, Scotland, and beyond stil remains strong, as M3 seeks to work with like-minded individuals like yourself in helping to achieve your artistic and musical dreams.
M3's Goal
M3’s goal is to provide high-quality, efficient audio and music services to the public via the Internet, so as to help up-and-coming artists and workers to get their chance to shine and flourish in an ever-demanding and ever-changing industry such as the music industry. M3 seeks to do this by promoting these services online across international waters to reach out for talent in different countries and in areas where artistic reach is limited, as well as housing services at affordable, allocated rates for both fresh and established talent to get the most effective online studio services available on the Internet.
M3 also seeks to help clientele distribute their material to a wide audience in order to expand their global reach, allowing their artistic vision to enthral audiences internationally and for their musical careers to begin to flourish and start becoming a reality rather than a distant dream.
Above all else, M3 seeks to inject character and life into musical ideas that people possess; whether they feel that their musical ideas aren’t as fleshed out as they could be or if they feel like they need assistance composing a piece or a sound for a certain project, M3 seeks to assist all clientele in their musical and media-based needs.
